Anglesea is just the ticket for water babies! Whether you're heading into the surf or sticking to calmer waters on the Anglesea River, everyone has a new adventure waiting for them every day.
ANGLESEA RIVER
Have a dabble at a paddle! The river invites gentler adventure with canoeing and stand up paddle boarding aplenty.
The estuary’s shallow waters are a perfect intro to ocean water-play without the waves. Why not set up the whole fam for the day at the sandy entrance on the beach?
THE BEACH
Everyone’s happy place! Anglesea Main Beach is one of the safest on the Great Ocean Road with smaller swells ideal for skilling-up on surfing.
DON'T FANCY GETTING IN IT? THEN GET ON IT
You don’t need to dive right in to have fun. Get on the water with ocean paddling or hit the river for gentler SUP or canoeing. Whatever your pace, you'll find a perfect-for-you water activity in Anglesea.
FISHING
Have a go at reeling in one that didn’t get away! Grab some bait and hit-up the wooden platforms along the Anglesea River to cast out a line or two any time of year. They’re easy to spot and reach with nearby car parks and paths. Many budding anglers remember dangling their first line from one of the bridges at Coogarah Park. Note: adults generally need a Victorian Amateur Fishing Licence, available from the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) at www.depi.vic.gov.au, the Lorne Visitor Information Centre, local hardware shops and newsagents in various locations. Worth checking first!
